If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind art-making experience for your mini maker this summer, Camp Small Fry is the place to be! We are offering half-day summer art camp from June through August, each week with a truly unique concept that will give kids the opportunity to create art, make friends, and most of all, have fun!
Each day will include work on evolving projects and time for fast-paced creativity, giving kids the opportunity to make ALL the art, in ALL the ways, ALL week long. Our goal is to encourage individuality, embrace collaboration, and foster creativity, all while having some good old-fashioned summertime fun!
Please pack a nut-free snack and lunch for your child, as well as a water bottle. Art smocks are always available, but please dress for a mess and pack a change of clothes!
Little Blank Canvas
June 25-29 (Gretchen
) Paint lovers, unite! We’re giving little artists the chance to create a collection of gallery-worthy art using the ultimate crowd-favorite art supply: paint! We’ll work from observation and imagination, starting our masterpieces with different approaches to drawing with pencils, pens, oil pastels, and charcoal. We’ll also explore different types of mark-making and textures on our journey to create realistic, expressionist and abstract paintings!
The Art of the Print
July 9-13 (Gretchen
) We’re transforming the studio into a printmaking shop as we learn all the ways we can make art with a print! From creating monoprints to making their own printing plates, little artists will draw inspiration from real life and delve into their imaginations as they channel their inner printmaker and master the art of the print.
July 16-20 (Michelle) Pack a change of clothes (or three!), and get ready to get splattered! We’ll discover the beauty in the mess as we find out what happens when we create art in a whole bunch of interesting ways, including bubble printing, acrylic pours, pendulum painting, plunger painting, water balloon explosions and more. This week promises to be filled with lots of laughter, squeals of delight and a bright, beautiful mess.
July 23-27 (Gretchen
) The world is not flat, and this week, neither is our art! We’ll explore all about creating in 3D, and try our hand at making art with everything from clay, to found objects, to art supplies, to natural materials. Prepare your little artist to think in the round—we’ll be making a variety of amazing sculptures, mobiles and more!
July 30-August 3 (Courtney
) Dollhouses top our list of quintessential childhood toys, and we’re making them a whole lot more meaningful! Little artists will start from scratch with the most open-ended and enticing invitation to create—an unfinished wooden house (child-sized, of course). We’ll design and create everything from wallpaper to furniture, flooring to interior decor, peg dolls to pretend pets, and that’s just the beginning! An additional $40 materials fee will apply.
Find Your Muse
August 6-10 (Linsay
) Little artists will travel back in time to discover the work of masters from classic, to contemporary, to modern. Each day offers a new adventure, with unique projects and all the fun materials and techniques that define the style of the time. With drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture and more to explore, this week is sure to inspire the artists of the future.
Accessorize + Adorn
August 13-17 (Courtney
) Weaving and jewelry-making and dyeing, oh my! This week will be jam-packed with projects to accessorize your style and adorn your walls. We’ll experiment with a variety of techniques, from traditional to modern, to create unique wearable art and pieces that will turn a bedroom into a haven for creativity.
Nature Art Explorers
August 20-24 (Linsay
) Mother Nature will guide our adventure as little artists discover the amazing relationships between themselves and the natural world. We’ll explore a variety of projects that bring nature into our art, from constructing paintbrushes with materials found in nature, to creating paints using pigments from the earth, to building sculptures with clay twigs, rocks and leaves—and more!
